Nutrition as Care
My journey into pet nutrition began with Meo (her photo is below), my cat whom I have had since 2020. She is now over six years old, and as I watch her grow older, I find myself thinking more and more about how I can give her the healthiest, happiest life possible. Nutrition became especially important to me because I want Meo to stay by my side for as many years as we can share — hopefully another 10 years, or even 15.
I don’t have all the answers. I’m simply learning, asking questions, and trying to understand what is best for her. And that is what I hope to share here: the things I discover, the questions that come up, and the stories along the way.
Maybe, by sharing what we learn with each other, we can find better ways to care for the animals we love — and give them more healthy, happy years by our side.

How Pet Nutrition Can Be a Way of Caring?
Our pets cannot tell us exactly what they need. They cannot read a food label, compare ingredients, or choose a healthier meal for themselves. We make those choices for them every day.
That is why learning about nutrition can be more than simply learning what to feed. It can be a way of understanding them better — their needs, their habits, their changing bodies, and the small things that can make their lives more comfortable.
We may not speak the same language as our pets, but we can learn to listen in other ways. Learning to care well also means understanding what goes into their food. Explore our Food & Ingredients guides to learn more about ingredients, food labels, and the choices behind your pet’s bowl.

Science Can Help Us Care Better
Love gives us the reason to care. Knowledge helps us care well.
The stories shared here are personal, but the nutrition information behind them should be grounded in evidence. When we talk about food, nutrients, feeding, or health, we look to scientific research and trusted veterinary sources to understand what we know — and what we still don’t know.
For trusted guidance on pet nutrition, we also look to resources such as the WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines, which provide science-based guidance for understanding and assessing the nutritional needs of dogs and cats.
